Seashells

He was an only child. The astrologer warned the parents to keep him away from water.

“It’ll be his death.”

He grew up a terrestrial animal with an irrational fear of water. Yet he dreamed of a vast blue.

He found a pearly conch in a forgotten corner. That night he listened to its melancholic song, echo of a lost sea. Suddenly he felt an ache for the distant beaches. So he ran away.

For a long time he wandered alone and not alone before arriving on the shores of his dream-sea. And he walked into the waves embrace finally.

  1. I saw the ending as a sad one, he couldn’t escape his fate, but at least he could follow his dream. Very dreamlike story, as Iain said.
